Who We Are

Age Concern Gillingham is a charity working in the local communities of Medway, Gravesham, Faversham and Sittingbourne to support older people, adults with learning disabilities, their families and carers.
Our guiding principle is to deliver a quality experience to every customer, every time, which allows them to achieve a full and rewarding life. That's why we provide services with a real impact, and why we encourage everyone in our local communities to look out for one another.

Our History

Age Concern Gillingham has had its presence in the Medway area since 1974, when the charity was first established by a group of volunteers. Over many years, the charity operated a shop in Gillingham and provided the core services which helped to create a larger charity partner, operating under separate branding.
Following the closure of that charity, Age Concern Gillingham has re-emerged as an independent charity, restarting many of the well-known and highly valued services needed across the area. In April 2026, we proudly took on the running of The Clarendon Royal Community in Gravesend, a much-loved local landmark that has been at the heart of the community since 1843. This marks a new chapter, with the same commitment to the people who matter most.

Our Mission

Our mission is to ensure all older people across Medway and Kent are supported to live life to the fullest.

Our principles are at the heart of everything we do, ensuring that all older people:

Receive the care they need, when they need it
